or watching a movie and reacting with emotion, even

of the subconscious mind being engaged – this
happens during hypnosis.
Perhaps you’ve experienced being
so deeply involved in an activity that when someone
speaks to you your response is delayed, or they have
to ask you twice, because your mind is so intensely
occupied with what you are doing. In the same way
deep concentration occurs during hypnosis.
To benefit from hypnosis you have to
be a willing participant, and because of this all
hypnosis can be regarded as self-hypnosis. The hypnotist
cannot make you do something you don’t want
to, and you are still able to hear, to talk and to
make choices. The hypnotist cannot control your mind.
